Antique Victorian cameo brooch, Bacchante, Gilt metal

A beautiful antique Victorian era cameo brooch.

Very finely carved from bullmouth shell it features a beautiful Bacchante and the detailing is really very well done, certainly a more finely carved cameo and it's always a real treat to find these.

It is housed in a closed back gilt brass frame with rope twist border.

It is has an old c type clasp and pin fastener this is brass.

Unmarked, c1870s, English make

Condition:
Fair used condition overall, some age commensurate wear and signs of use, the shell has a crack to one corner but still holds strong, wear to the gilding on the brass.

2.5" height.
