Antique Victorian mourning cape, French jet, Taffeta, Silk and Lace

An absolutely beautiful Victorian mourning Cape with French jet beaded embellishments, and a silk swirl design trimmed in black lace.

The main outer of the cape is made in a black taffeta with a swirl design in black silk and the interior is lined in a black cotton but this is significantly worn with some tears.

The collar is a ruffle type collar of medium height with lace ruffles and also trimmed with beading.

It fastens with hook and eye fasteners, the original fastenings still present but show wear, some rusting and looseness.

The base and neckline are both trimmed with black lace.

Condition:
Good used condition overall, some rusting and looseness to the fasteners, some small tears and holes in the lace, the lining is very worn with tears to the inner lining.

It is very old and will require specialist cleaning, it has not been cleaned by us.
