Antique Victorian Vulcanite cameo brooch

It is a very well designed piece depicting a lady, possibly Mary.
The cameo has some lightening to the Vulcanite but no chips or cracks and is a nice unusual design.
Vulcanite was created in the early 19th century by Charles Goodyear and it was invented after blending a mix of sulphur and rubber, creating a hardened or vulcanised rubber known as Vulcanite.
It is usually a rich dark brown to black colour and this made it a popular alternative to Whitby Jet for mourning and other jewellery.
It is highly prized today and genuine pieces of Vulcanite jewellery are popular among collectors.
