Victorian mourning cape, black taffeta and jet

An absolutely beautiful Victorian mourning Cape with real jet beaded forget me not flower embellishments.

The main outer of the cape is made in a black taffeta with pinstripe and chevron of black silk and the interior is lined in a black satin, the edges are trimmed in lace with black jet bugle beads.

It has a pleat back which when opened up reveals jet forget me nots which can also be found on the front, like a hidden gem.

The collar is a ruffle type collar of medium height with lace ruffles and also trimmed with beading.

It fastens with hook and eye fasteners, the original fastenings still present but show wear, some rusting and looseness.

Condition: Good used condition overall, some rusting and looseness to the fasteners, some tears and holes in the lace. It is very old and will require specialist cleaning
