Vintage Traditional Asian straw sedge hat, coolie hat

A fantastic vintage original Oriental or Asian sedge hat.

Also known as a coolie hat, these traditional conical straw hats were and are traditionally used for farming or outdoor jobs to protect from the sun and keep your head cool.

The hat is made from lacquered woven straw and has a red fabric chin strap to help keep it on the head.

It is a one size fits all hat, an interesting traditional design.

16" width at the base

Condition:
Fair used condition overall, some of the lacquer is chipping away from the straw, it shows signs of use and wear commensurate with age.
